The Pressures of
Being a Student
We
are enjoying the college days now; however, we also feel a lot of pressures in
our daily lives. We are in a subtle position between children and adults, so we
often worry about being college students. We experience three kinds of
pressures: academic, economic, and social.
First,
we feel academic pressures. Every day we have to attend classes, and the number
of times we have attended is important for our school achievements. However, we
do not feel like going to class when we have a headache or a stomachache. Also,
a lot of homework by teachers is a cause of stress. Sometimes, we do the
homework till dawn, and we become sleepy during the class. In addition, we must
take some tests which have a great influence on the achievement. TOEFL test
especially gives us pressures because it directly affects separating students
into English classes.
Second,
we feel pressured about economic. We are often worried about money management. There
is no uniform in college, so we must wear ordinary clothes every day. Therefore,
we need buy clothing for the season. During holidays, we enjoy spending time
with friends, eating out, watching movies and shopping. Of course, it is
pleasant but costly. As a result, the expenses for these things hurt us.
Finally,
we are under social pressures. Human relationship is important when we go out into
the world. In college, we have opportunities to talk with foreign teachers. It
is a precious and interesting experience for us. However, sometimes we cannot
figure out what they really mean or cannot know how to express our thoughts. In
club activities or part-time jobs, we often have seniors, and we must consider
a vertical relationship. We feel stressed that we must get on with people well.
In
conclusion, every day we feel three kinds of pressures: academic, economical,
and social. More or less all of us worry about these things. Through
experiences in college, we must be strong adults to survive the harsh world of
reality.
